Honesty and Accountability

So my MIL came over for a quick visit on Saturday and stayed overnight. Thanks to having done a good 20 minutes in the guest bathroom, all I had to do was a quick wipe down and lay out some towels. Yay!

Then in the office/guest bedroom, since I had spent a good 2 hours in here a couple of weekends ago, it contained just a small amount of unhomed clutter and the bed was actually accessible. So all I had to do was wash the sheets that were on that bed and remake the bed. Yay!

However, after she left I kind of did too much relaxing and did not do the pots and pans from Sunday's dinner. So they were still there in the sink this morning before work. And also this evening when I got home from work. But hey, that's ok. I'll do what I can when I can, right?

Day 13

Today we are doing a mission. The official zone for this week was the living room, so all the official missions for this week were in the living room.

But the main thing about missions is that they are things that need to happen with some regularity in that particular zone. Last weekend I did a kitchen mission, I cleaned out the refrigerator. I took some before shots, but for some reason no afters, so the afters are from today, a week later. Which makes me happy, since it still looks pretty decent. A few drips and drops, but still looking good overall.

Before

You will notice that something had dripped in the bottom of the meat drawer. I think it was these pork chops. Eww.

That poor piece of ginger oozed out all of its gutts before it shriveled up and died.

I can do anything for 15 mins #2 - Guest Bathroom

The guest bathroom is bigger than the master, and so all the "extra" stuff gets crammed in here. I like having the second bathroom, but being a clutter collector is a little bit like being a goldfish. If it's available I will fill it with junk.

I don't know why this picture is blurry, but as you can see, the top of the counter there probably qualifies as a hot spot. It totally attracts clutter.

Again, after was more like 20 minutes. I spent 15 minutes decluttering under the sink.

I know it doesn't look like a huge difference, but considering that the huge gallon bottle of Nature's Miracle fits under here now shows that I got rid of a lot of stuff.

This is stuff that doesn't belong in this bathroom. That little metal case was really hard to let go

The bag of all the cleaning products that didn't work, hair products that were too complicated, and straight old trash.

Massive Project #1 - The office

The hubster is a sports fanatic, so he saves certain issues of Sports Illustrated to reference for his fantasy teams. Obviously being stacked like that is not good for them.

That is a dining room chair. It is in the office and it is covered with stuff from work. Badness all around.

The other half of the closet looks just as bad.

I can do anything for 15 mins #1 - Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is not as cluttered up as the office, since we actually go in there everyday, and have to have enough space to actually lay down and go to sleep. But it still attracts clutter. I think the biggest problem is that things that don't go in the bedroom end up in there. And then they invite all their clutter buddies over for a sleep over.

Before:

The after pictures actually happened 20 minutes later, but I am the worlds slowest bed maker I think. I takes me nearly 10 minutes to stripdown and make a bed.
This is all the stuff that doesn't belong in the bedroom and isn't trash/recycle. Everything else that is gone from the room is now gone from the house too.

I did not go through the stuff on Hubster's chair. He has a method for that madness, and I'll let him go through it. There's less aggravation that way.

So in 20 mins I changed the sheets, straightened up, and dusted the whole bedroom. Looks good, if you ask me.
